John Boye has pulled out of Ghana's squad to face China due to a groin problem
Defender John Boye has withdrawn from Ghana’s squad to play China on Wednesday in an international friendly, claiming he is unfit.
The Rennes centre-back is yet to fully recover from a groin injury he picked up during pre-season.
Last Saturday, he was a 24th minute substitute for Rennes who were shocked 1-0 at home by Olympique Lyon in their French Ligue 1 opener.
But the 25-year-old says he cannot make the trip to Asia.
“I informed the team late that I cannot travel to China. I was hoping to do so but I’m still feeling the pains. I will try and see if I can train tomorrow with the Rennes team,” Boye exclusively told MTNFootball.com
His absence has reduced the squad number to 17.
Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah could not invite midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu and defender Daniel Opare who are all injured.

Why is Atsu’s name attached to Rio Ave? For Christ sake! He is FC Porto player. What kind of stupid journalism is this? Don’t u edit ur stories before you post them? Wake up GSN.
Lets not get over confident. Ghana’s prime formation is 4-5-1. This formation suits our style of play and makes maximum use of our abundant strong midfielders whilst making it very difficult for the opposition to score goals at the same time. Ghana’s ever reliable formation should be either 4-5-1! or 4-4-1-1 simple!
The 4-5-1 is a Serbian formation. We will change it for a more attacking option. More goals means less job in defence.
That would have been the case if they Ghana team was complemented with prolific strikers. What we have is midfielders and that is wht we need to look at and build our team around. 4-5-1 i say.
why is Ghana always playing China? GFA pls organise friendlies with soccer superpowers….
Y is john mensah still in da BS?
