Harirson Afful will be working with a new coach at Esperance after his Tunisian side sacked Maher Kanzari following their CAF Champions League semi-final exit against Orlando Pirates.
Esperance drew 1-1 at home on Saturday in the return leg clash to miss out on a fourth consecutive final slot after drawing 0-0 in the first leg.
“President Hamdi Meddeb held early this afternoon a meeting with the coach of the professional team, Maher Kanzari to discuss the current situation of the team,” the translated statement read.
“After a cordial discussion, the two sides agreed to part amicably, whereas the coach failed to achieve the main objective of the club, the Champions League, and he therefore preferred to give way. He thanked the President Hamdi Meddeb for granting him his confidence by giving him the reins of the team and wished them good luck for the future.
Afful played two seasons under Kanzari and was a regular fixture.
Skander Kasri has been appointed new coach and will be assisted by Adel Latrech.
