Ghana defender Harrison Afful has cast doubt over claims that Sulley Muntari attacked a Black Stars management member at the World Cup insisting he did not witness the alleged assault.

The Tunisia-based defender says he saw the AC Milan midfielder hold Moses Armah by his shirt but left immediately after that as he could not stand seeing such an attack.

Muntari was handed an indefinite suspension and booted out of the Black Stars camp in Brasilia before Ghan's match Portugal for his assault on the Medeama SC owner.

According to GFA Boss Kwesi Nyantakyi’s description of the incident, Muntari threw a bottle at Mr. Armah, which he (Nyantakyi blocked) and also stated that the former Inter Milan and Udinese star punched the football administrator twice.

But, Harrison Afful, who plies his trade with Esperance, claims Muntari never saw hit Moses Armah.

“I was sleeping when the meeting started. So, I got a text message from one of my team-mates informing me that the meeting had started and that I need to be present," Afful said on the Delay Show with Deloris Frimpong Manso on Viasat 1 TV.

"I got to the team meeting in time to witness Sulley Muntari’s attack on Moses Armah. Sulley didn’t hit him or slap him as it was reported. I didn’t see Sulley hit him.

“Sulley only held Mr. Armah’s shirt close to his neck. I left the meeting room immediately after the attack because I couldn’t stand the sight of the incident.” the Tunisia based back-liner added.

Whether Muntari hit or slap or even threw a bottle at Moses Armah in his moment of fury over unpaid World Cup appearance fees during a team meeting, one thing that remains clear is that the former Liberty Professionals player would struggle to earn another national team call-up from Kwasi Appiah, since the Black Stars Coach intends to cut off all traces of indiscipline from the team.
