Ghana defender Harrison Afful: AFCON has boosted my confidence

Published on: 27 February 2013

Ghana defender Harrison Afful says his level of confidence has soared after playing at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

The versatile full back featured in all six matches for the Black Stars in their fourth place finish at the tournament in South Africa.

Afful, an unused substitute of the 2010 squad which won silver in Angola, believes the experience garnered at the just ended tournament has been enormous.

" I think the experience I gained at the tournament will impact positively in my play. I have learnt a lot especially how to defend and even attack as well," Afful said.

" In 2010, I was a member of the team but I didn't play a single but this year things changed and I had to do my part.

"We all feel disappointed for not winning the Cup but the future is very bright."

Afful has rejoined his club side Esperance and played 58 minutes in last Sunday's 4-1 win over Olympique du Kef.
