Ghana defender David Addy started his pre-season with FC Porto on Thursday with his chances of grabbing a first team place very high.

The left-back, who was on loan at Academica last season, returned to the club on Wednesday after he was ordered to report for pre-season.

He started training with the Portuguese giants as he fights to stay there and compete for laurels at the higest level fo European football.

Addy returns after a one-year absence following his loan stint in Coimbra, where Academica were interested in getting him on another loan deal.

But at the moment he faces no competition at the Porto left-back which has promted him to be given the chance to impress before his future is decided.

The club's first choice left-back Alvaro Pereira is at the Copa America in Uruguay while his Rafa, the other Porto player in that position is on the injury list.

This means Addy is the only player left in that position and can fight to gain a first team place before the duo return to the club.

The Ghana international Addy will now faces an anxious wait to see what future is being planned for him at Porto.

If Porto are unable to guarantee him first team place, Addy is likely to seek another loan move away from the club.
