English clubs Sunderland and Stoke City are preparing bids for Ghana defender David Addy, GHANAsoccernet.com has gathered.

The 23-year-old has been a consistent performer for Vitoria Guimaraes in the Portuguese top flight.

Addy had made eight starts in the fourteen games played in the Portuguese league so far this season.

He was also key to the side’s unsuccessful Europa League campaign.

The Ghana international’s improved form at club level has however caught the eyes of clubs in England and France in particular.

Stoke City and Sunderland are said to be ready to make official bids for the Ghanaian when the January transfer window officially opens in a few hours time.

French club Saint Etienne are also said to be interested in left-back but Vitoria Guimaraes are unwilling to sell.

Rui Vitoria’s side are pushing to secure a Champions League spot where they are currently 10 points behind third place Benfica and wouldn’t want to lose their best players.

But Sunderland on the other hand are desperate to sign players in January to help them escape relegation.
