The Royal Belgian Football Association has handed Ghana defender David Addy a four-match ban, two of which is suspended, for head-butting an opponent in a Belgian Pro League match on Saturday.

The left back claimed he was racially abused by KV Mechelen player Joachim Van Damme felled him with a tackle.

The 24-year-old said he was told "f**** off, n***r, get up" and he immediately head-butted Van Damme.

Referee Frederik Geldhof pulled out a straight red and sent him off in the 36th minute.

This prompted the Federal Prosecutor to establish a Commission of Inquiry to investigate the matter but could not provide Addy was racially abused.

After a hearing on Tuesday, the Disputes Committee ruled: "The head-butt by Addy is an aggressive act that could injure his opponent.

“However, we consider the criminal record of the player, and charged him with a four-match ban, two suspended.

"The alleged racist statements have not been proven."

Addy’s club Waasland-Beveren will abide by the decision of the Arbitration Committee and does will not appeal the decision.
