Baba Rahman is also wanted by Real Madrid

Ghana defender Baba Abdul-Rahman will arrive in London this week for a medical with English Premier League champions Chelsea if they manage to clear the stumbling block with his German team Augsburg.

The right-back was expected to travel to Stamford Bridge over the weekend for the medical with the Blues but the journey has been delayed because of the Bundesliga club's insistence on more money.

But the Ghanaian youngster is desperate for a move to the world's most popular league and seeking the softly-softly approach for the move to happen.

Augsburg already rejected Chelsea's opening offer of £17.5m for a player they signed just just ONE MILLION last summer from Greuther Furth.

The German side are angling for £25m agreement with Chelsea before allowing the Ghanaian to undergo tests ahead of his switch.

Augsburg have yet to accept the offer, knowing Real Madrid and PSG are also keen on the player and they can exact a maximum price for the defender.

Playing according to Baba's instructions to use tact to get Augsburg to agree to the deal, his agent Sacha Emphacher wants to appeal to the Bundesliga side to allow the player to seal his dream move to England.

"Chelsea made an attractive offer. It is Baba's dream to play for a top club. He would like to take this opportunity," Emphacher said.

Talk of a switch to Stamford Bridge intensified over the weekend after the left-back was missing from the Augsburg squad for the friendly against Toulouse on Saturday.

The deal represents great business for Augsburg who signed the Ghanaian for just £1m a year ago before he enjoyed a fantastic Bundesliga campaign.

Augsburg are set to make a huge profit on Baba after plucking him from second-tier Greuther Furth last summer for just £1m.

Rahman will arrive in London to replace Filipe Luis who was sold back to Atletico Madrid this week after failing to settle.

Chelsea have made their move for the 11-cap Ghana international after flogging Brazilian flop Filipe Luis back to Atletico Madrid.

The 21-year-old Ghana international, following recommendation by former manager Avram Gant, now coach of the country.

Grant, who coaches Ghana, mentioned his qualities to Chelsea following his part played in reaching the final of the African Cup of Nations last year, where they lost out on penalties to Ivory Coast.

The Israeli retains close connections to the Stamford Bridge hierarchy and rates Rahman as one of his best players.
