Ghana defender Awal Mohammed refuses to be drawn into the controversy surrounding his club career.

The 24-year-old is being sought after by several clubs following a sterling debut performance for Maritzburg United in the South African top flight.

Maritzburg have declared the ex Asante Kotoko player is not for sale but reports of Awal’s imminent departure will just not go away.

Mohammed who has also played in Ivory Coast for ASEC Mimosas has however left the decision on his club career with ‘The Team of Choice’ rather choosing to focus on Ghana’s campaign at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

"I am aware there has been interest, but also aware of the issues surrounding it,” he told Kickoff.com.

"I want to leave everything with the club to sort out while I focus on getting into the Ghana side at least for now.

"At the end of the day I have a three-year contract with the club at the moment so it is all up to them.”

Mohammed is hoping to make his first competitive debut for the Black Stars at the Nations Cup currently ongoing in South Africa.
