Ghana defender Massawudu Alhassan has joined Italian Serie-B side Novara on loan, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

The 19-year-old arrives from Genoa where he has had very limited first team opportunities.

Alhassan has lost his place in the Black Stars after the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations earlier this year.

The move to Novara is thus believed to be in an attempt to brighten his chances of a national team recall.

The left-back was part of Ghana’s U-20 squad that failed to make it past the group stage of the 2011 Africa Youth Championship in South Africa.

Novara were relegated from the top flight at the end of the last last campaign just within a year of winning promotion from Serie-B.

They will kick off their bid for promotion with a visit to Grosseto on August 25.
