Ghana defender Addy helps Guimaraes to tough win at Maritimo

David Addy in action for Vitoria Guimaraes

David Addy scored in a pulsating penalty shoot out to help Vitoria Guimaraes dump out Maritimo in a Portuguese Cup match on Sunday.

The Ghana international slotted coolly his spot kick to help his side to a 6-5 win after the game had ended 1-1 after regulation and extra time.

Addy has upped his game since joining Guimaraes at the beginning of the season from champions FC Porto.

The left-back’s impressive season so far has attracted interests from top European clubs in particular Wolfsburg and Frankfurt.

The ex Wa All Stars player is also competing for a spot in the Black Stars squad for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa.

The 22-year-old was a key member of the Ghana U-20 side that won the World Cup in 2009.
