Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah wants to use Tuesday’s friendly against Japan to sharpen his side arsenals for next month’s World Cup play-offs.
Appiah is using an under-strength Black Stars squad to face the Blue Samurai who have already qualified to Brazil 2014.
Key players Asamoah Gyan, Kwadwo Asamoah, Michael Essien, Kevin-Prince Boateng and Andre Ayew have been excused.
“We don’t have many FIFA match days whereby the team can have the opportunity of looking at the younger ones who are all coming up,” Appiah said.
This gives opportunity to fringes players to convince the technical team.
“It’s always important that such friendly games give them the opportunity to play since there are thousands of players that you have to look at when talking about the national team, he added.
“So, for me, it’s always good to let them play in such big level games and check whether they can be part of the team for the next game or the future.”
