Ghana coach undecided over final squad for 2013 AFcon finals

Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah says he is yet to finalize his final squad for next year’s African Cup of Nations in South Africa.

The focus has swiftly been shifted to the continental showpiece after the Black Stars beat Malawi 1-0 to complete a 3-0 aggregate win in the qualifying campaign on Saturday.

The Ghana trainer shuffled with a host of players during the  qualifying campaign and he says he is yet to settle on his final troops.

“I have been thinking about the kind of players that can play in such competitions,” Appiah said

“Since I took over I have invited so many players and so I am thinking around how I can pick the best to play for Ghana.

“I won’t say I have not been satisfied with those I have invited. I think when they all came they proved that given the chance they can play,”

“The other part of is whether their ability can be of use now or in the future. Some of them are doing very well and may get the chance to go to the Cup of Nations.

" There are one or two players that I still need to look at.  We have a game in November and so when I get them on board, it will help me a lot.

“It is always good to have the blend of experienced and young players."

Ghana will avoid big guns including Cote D’voire, Nigeria, reigning African champions Zambia and South Africa after the Confederations of African Football seeded the Black Stars.
