Ghana coach to ring changes to face Niger

Christian Atsu could be making a return to Ghana's starting line up against Niger

Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah will make at least one change to his starting line-up when they play Niger in their decisive 2013 Africa Cup of Nations clash on Monday.

Influential midfielder Mubarak Wakaso who has been key for the Black Stars will not available for the match in Port Elizabeth.

Spain-based Wakaso misses the game as he is serving a one-match ban after picking up his second booking of the tournament for his goal celebration against Mali.

The Espanyol would have missed the match against Niger even if he was not suspended because he is nursing a knee injury he suffered in the match against Mali.

This means coach Appiah must find a replacement for the hard-tackling midfielder who has been key in the opening two matches for the Black Stars.

Winger Christian Atsu is likely to be called in to replace Wakaso at the left wing position with the several other players set to maintain their positions from the last game against Mali.

Ghana must beat Niger to finish top of Group B and stay in Port Elizabeth for the quarter-finals.

Niger could still qualify if they win, however if they do and Mali draw with DR Congo then it would come down to a mini-table within the table.

Ghana’s probable line-up: Fatau Dauda, John Paintsil, Harrison Afful, John Boye, Isaac Vorsah, Rabiu Mohammed, Albert Adomah, Agyemang Badu, Asamoah Gyan, Christian Atsu, Kwadwo Asamoah.

  1. GH FUO, THINK BIG!!! says:

    AGAINST NIGER…
WE CAN BEAT NIGER EASILY. THEY ONLY HAVE 3 DECENT PLAYERS. THEIR ATTACK N MIDFIELD ARE NON CONSISTENT. THEIR DEFENCE HAS LOOPHOLES.
DANKOWA, MOUSSA, AND CHICOTO ARE THEIR ONLY DECENT PLAYERS. IF U NEUTRALISE THEIR CAPTAIN IN ATTACK, AND CONCENTRATE ON NEUTRALIZING DANKWA N CHICOTO
IN DEFENCE, NIGER ARE IMPOTENT. AA SHOULD START ASANTE ON THE WING AND KISSI AT LEFT BACK. PERFECT TIME FOR AA TO USE AFFUL ON THE RIGHT AND
KASA ON THE 11. AA SHOULD START PLAYERS LIKE CLOTTEY, YIADOM SO THEY CAN BUILD THEIR CONFIDENCE GOING INTO THE QUARTERS. WE SHOULD GET AT LEAST
3 GOALS HERE. USE THIS GAME TO SHARPEN UR STRIKING FORCE N POLISH UR MIDFIELD. 2 TOUCH PER PLAYER, AND PASSING.

  2. Gogee says:

Atsu will be more effective behind the striker. Send him there and take Kwadwo Asamoah to the left side of midfield. Akwasi Appiah kwraaaa, Ah!

  3. kill says:
