Guinness Ghana Breweries Limited has presented an 18-carat harp and products to Kwesi Appiah for qualifying the Black Stars to the 2014 FIFA World Cup finals.

The ceremony took place in Accra on Thursday night to honour the ex-Ghana captain.

Appiah became the first indigenous Ghanaian coach to chalk that feat last month when his side lost 2-1 to Egypt in Cairo in the return leg of the playoff but advanced 7-3 on aggregate,

“We are particularly excited because our premium brand Guinness, official beverage sponsor of the Black Stars, a brand built on quality, passion and the drive to win everywhere; a brand made of more, clearly associates with coach Kwesi Appiah for demonstrating these shared qualities,”  GGBL Managing Director Peter Ndegwa said.

“Coach Kwesi Appiah is more than a coach. He is the first local coach to qualify the Black Stars to the FIFA World Cup. Like Guinness, coach Kwesi Appiah is indeed made of more.”

Guinness also announced that it will be supporting the Appiah’s realize his dream of setting up a sports academy in Ghana.

  1. Assemblyman says:

Kwarasey was doing so much good in the post of absent Olele.Because we all knew that Olele was going to retire fully. And yes!Kwarasey from no where proved a strong point to that effect after Ghana and Brazil’s friendly in London a year or two ago. This strong case of form continue through the African cup nations cup.But after we had qualified for the Gabon and Equitorial Guinea African cup of nations a year ago, when Fatau was invited to camp.I guess, all of a sudden Kwarasey’s confidence and psychological motivations vanished. At some point he was having problems seeing balls shot at him by opponents.Ah!carefully thinking about all these things which happened in the place of Fatau Dauda,I think a lot has to be investigated physically and spiritually to know what exactly went wrong with Kwarasey.
Meanwhile,he isnt a poor goalkeeper.he has been a fantastic one.A true leader who had lead his club to win the Norwegian league as a captain.Later he was voted as the best goalkeeper in the big league. So after all these, why cant he perform with the Blackstars???This is my question.
Obviously he is miles ahead of Fatau Dauda in all departments..
So just one mistake in Equitorial Guinea-Gabon nations cup makes Kwarasey a bad keeper?Meanwhile,he didnt conceed much as compared to Fatau Dauda after he had taken over the post “jujuly” from Kwarasey. And no one seems to be talking about this at the GFA over such concerns.I think in my personal opinion,Dauda at the peak of his form is not anywhere near the calibre of goalkeeper in Kwarasey.
If we are even to be fair to ourselves as citizens of mother Ghana, wanting the interest of Ghana first and not our pockets.I should think Kwarasey should be number one,Daniel Agyei as number two, goalkeeper Razak Brimah as number three and Ofoli Adade as number 4.That is if Mr.Akwasi Appiah wants to be fair to himself and words that,he will only select players who are fit and have enough playing time at their club levels. For this reason Fatau is no where close.
Why are we letting this thing to happen within our national team.Akwasi Appiah come out clear and honest about this .Because some people like myself barely understand this sort of player politicking and favoritism going on within the BS.
We all know well that Akwasi had refused to invite Daniel Agyei for not being able to play in the South African league all because he was awaiting his paper works. There are a couple of players that Akwasi had refused to invite including Adiyiah,Emmanuel Frempong,Jeffrey Schlupp and Jordan Ayew all for the reason of lack of playing time.
Yet,you went ahead to fix clubless Inkoom and unnsettled Fatau Dauda in the first 11.And what makes these inactive players better than those you had refused to invite based on the same reason you had dropped others.
Ah Darn!God is watching you Akwasi Appiah.
Ghanasoccernet, who is doing this childish publicity about Fatau Dauda on your side.Is he or his agent paying you to do that..Because its about him all since 2 weeks ago at every hour. What has Fatau given you guys and how much?
Maybe the person at the offices of ghanasoccernet who is acting as a publicist for Fatau Dauda should rather advise him to seek playing time and maybe unlock his juju against Kwarasey..Because he talking here and there makes him the loudest empty barrel ever known within our soccer circus..someone should get a life..
