Ghana coach Evans Adotey has attributed the 2-1 defeat to Canada in the final group game at the World Cup to complacency.
The Black Maidens top Group B of the ongoing U17 Womenââ¬â¢s World Cup in Costa Rica despite the defeat to the Canadians who also progress as the groupââ¬â¢s runnerââ¬â¢s up.
Ghana has made an impressive start to their campaign at the World Cup following opening wins against Korea DPR and Germany.
Evans Adoteyââ¬â¢s side however lost their 100 percent start to the competition with the 2-1 defeat to Canada who played the remaining quarter of the game with a man down.
The Black Maidens coach has blamed the defeat on complacency.
ââ¬ÅI believe we lost this game due to complacency,â⬠he said.
ââ¬ÅAfter winning our two games and to qualify for the knockout stages, I think the girls got swollen-headed.
ââ¬ÅIf you look at this game for instance, even though we had a one player advantage, we couldnââ¬â¢t score.ââ¬
Ghana will be facing Italy in the quarter finals of the World Cup on Thursday.
