Ghana coach denies interference in AFCON squad naming

Goran Stevanovic insists he was not pressured by the Ghana FA to select players for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations.

There is huge impression that the Serbian trainer was forced to include some players against his will in the provisional 25-man squad.

Stevanovic named Ghana Premier League leading scorer Emmanuel Baffour in his squad after earlier reports claimed no locally-based outfit player will be invited.

He has dismissed those reports and said he will take full blame if results do not turn out as expected.

“Nobody pressured me for this squad. I will like to thank the Ghana FA Executive Members for giving me the freedom to choose the best players,” Stevanovic said a media conference on Thursday.

“I am ready to take responsibility for the result.”

WHAT “BEST” WITHOUT QUINCY IN IT AND TAGOE, TAKYI included…..DONT CALL IT “THE BEST”

  2. Amy says:

It’s is best that fit his tactical plans! To my understanding Quincy and Tagoe do not play in the same position. It’s not just picking 23 players. If you look at this squad, there are no wingers (strickers), but midfielders that can be deployed on the wings like Suley, Dede, Kwado. It’s because the strength of the team is the midfield. There no point selecting Quincy or other natural wingers if they will not add extra to the team balance. Guys think!

  3. Pablo says:

How many matches has sulley played for inter can’t even warm bench. Quincy would be better. Or is an opportunity given him to relaunch his career.???????? and more ??????

  4. yaw2 says:

Badu is out the best player to replace him is QUINCY. I rest my case.

  5. king west says:

Most of the players he has selected can’t even make it on the bench for their clubs, ie sulley, pantsill and the rest !

  6. CHAIRMAN says:

That is a nice squared but i do think that Quincy must be among the final 23 man squad ..not all player should be given the bandit who does not deserve to be in the squared but due to corruption the FA and his assistant have been making give some the opportunity to arise in the squared .. i will appeal with the G FA and his counterpart to drop one of the local based player and cheap in Quincy… Thank you so much for taking my regarded into your consideration..There is more time for the up coming players to exhibit there talent … time will tell .

  7. GFA VICE PRESIDENT. says:

No but you guys are wrong. Adomah and Quincy were dropped simply because they do not have any one in the GFA to back them and also they did not pay the payo so how do you expect the coach to include them? Stupid GFA. Fire burn you and the coach all including your stupid people who gives you the Ideas of selecting players.Who would have thought that Adomah and Qunicy would be dropped?I don’t blame you guys. Can you guys tell me that all the midfielders you selected are going to play all the matches? We live to see. Some of them will be benched until the end of the tournament and yet still, they will be paid for winning bonuses and that is where the GFA people get their share. How much will you big guys do with $2000 even if that is what each player who is suppose to pay payo gives you? What is the benefit? Is it not far better for you guys to include Adomah and Quincy to at least add more colors to the team instead of benching your so called players who will be benched without playing even a single game. You guys should MARK my words here.Let us all monitor the tournament from the beginning to the end and see if some of the players called will not be benched till the end.You guys better drop Tagoe,Jordan and Lee Addy and include Quincy and Adomah instead. What the fuck are you guys doing there in the GFA at all? Don’t you have sense? Oh this bullshit. I even don’t know what to say again. Am soo angry right now.Even David Addy the U-20 left back who won the World Cup is far better than Lee Addy but Lee is always called to this squad as Tagoe does. Why at all? It got to a time that Adiyah was being called ahead of Ransford Osei simply because Ransford was soo stupid to do the jonky work and provided all the necessary balls to Adiyah to score during the U-20 world cup. Where is Ransford now? Did we give him enough time as Adiyah was given? Now,you see your stupidity? Where is Adiyah now? You guys in the GFA will forever be greedy until you die. You think money will take you anywhere? You better watch out this time and see. Fuck yo’s all and your damn family.
