Kwesi Appiah wants to take the best players to Brazil

Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah insists only the best players from the country will be selected to play for the Black Stars at the World Cup in Brazil in June next year.

The ex-Ghana captain came in for a flak this week when he was reported to have said that some benchwarmers could make his squad for the tournament in South America.

The Black Stars have some players who are inactive with their clubs in Europe and Ghana will have a tough task in the group matches.

The West Africans will play Germany, Portugal and the United States in Group G and Appiah says he will take only the best players to the tournament.

“We want the best players and only the best players will be going to Brazil to represent the nation,” Appiah said.

“My greatest concern is to have all my players available and without any injuries. I pray for that. I hope we arrive in Brazil with a solid unit and we will take it from there.”

The fact remains that Michael Essien for example has struggled for playing time at Chelsea but Ghana would not exclude him from their squad or starting team because of his immense talents and experience.

Ghana are drawn against Germany in Group G alongside Portugal and the United States in the first round of next year’s World Cup.

Interesting new criteria for selecting our players. I must say, it doesn’t look too bad. Players could be fit and active but useless in the world cup. This gives people like KPB, J Mensah, Inkoom among others a chance to be in the first eleven.

  6. Ghanaman says:

    AA ,the special one.

  7. Scouterforghana says:

If players like derick boateng , inkoom and john pantsill make it in the squad. I will loose respect for our nation. Only active players should be selected. Essien is the in active player that should be part of the team. Beside he should keep the players who was available for the qualifiers!

Nani 2 goals, CR7 3 goals in black stools net, Ozil, defender captain Lahm & Metusacker=5 goals, while USA will also put 4 in this gays net, oh what a shame by this gay nation full of baboons and apes.

  14. Capo di Capi says:

Oh, this is a new one? It used to be if you are playing regularly at club level. This must be the opportunity then for best players like D. Adiyah, S. Asante, Kissi Boateng, F. Dauda, Awal Mohammed, Rashid Sumaila, H. Afful and Inkoom to make the squard.
AA I pray for God’s wisdom for you. God Help you!
