John Mensah is among players excluded from Ghana's Africa Cup of Nations squad
Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah says he is fully concentrating on the players in his 2013 Africa Cup of Nations squad in the wake of the exclusion of some key players.
Appiah is expected to deliver a success, finally, despite not having Europe-based stars Kevin-Prince Boateng, Sulley Muntari and Michael Essien available.
The former defender also dropped the Ayew brothers, Andre and Ayew, from his final 23 but said he had the players he could ”rely on.”
”That doesn’t mean that the others are no good,” Appiah said on arrival in South Africa where the tournament starts on Saturday.
”But it’s important that we concentrate on those who are representing the nation.”
The 29th edition of Africa’s continental championships opens in South Africa on Saturday with the host nation taking on Cape Verde Islands at Soccer City.
Ghana will play their first game on Sunday against DR Congo as the Black Stars seem the obvious favourite to top Group B.

Well-spoken. The squad in its current form is what counts, everything and everyone else is irrelevant for the time being.
