Ghana captain Gyan tips Abdul Majeed Waris for greatness
Abdul Majeed Waris has been in fine scoring form for Ghana

Asamoah Gyan believes compatriot Abdul Majeed Waris can be a future star for Ghana.

The Russia-based striker has earned huge plaudits after his excellent displays for the Black Stars since he burst onto the international stage.

The 22-year-old was on target for the West Africans in their 6-1 thumping of Egypt in a first leg qualifier of the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Kumasi on Tuesday.

And the Ghana star striker has tipped the Spartak Moscow player to shine in his career.

“Waris is a very good striker and also a discipline player too. If he keeps working hard I’m sure he will become a major hit,” Gyan said

“I talk to him and he listens to me. I am the hatchet man and so eyes are always on me.

“So I come back and give him free room to operate. He is a young chap with great potential and I’m confident if he continues, he will be the future star.”

Waris has scored in his last three international games for the Black Stars at the Baba Yara stadium in Kumasi.
