Ghana captain Gyan congratulates colleagues over Cape Verde win

Ghana Captain Asamoah Gyan has commended his colleagues on their 1-0 triumph over Cape Verde in an international friendly.

“I must commend the technical team and the playing body for raising the flag of Ghana high. I am indeed proud of you, well done and let’s keep up the spirit,” Gyan said in a statement.

Mubarak Wakaso scored the only goal of the match as the Ghanaians posted the narrow win over the Black Sharks at the Lisbon University stadium on Wednesday.

Gyan was excused from the game due to the untimely death of his mother Cecilia Love Mensah Gyan.

Meanwhile, the Al-Ain striker has expressed sincere gratitude to all and sundry who in diverse ways have supported him and his family during their time of bereavement, especially during his mother’s one-week celebration.

“I wish to thank all who supported the Gyan family during our trying moments, I on behalf of Â my Â family say we are Â indeed grateful for your support,” the release added.
