Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan named in CAF best XI

Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan was named in CAF's best XI for the Year 2013 at Thursday's Gala in Lagos.

The UAE-based striker is among a three-prong attack which includes Nigeria’s Emmanuel Emenike and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of Gabon.

Gyan was named in CAF’s preliminary list for the 2013 Player of the Year but could not make the three-man shortlist.

Nigeria dominated the list with three players- goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama, midfielder Mikel Obi and striker Emenike.

2013 Africa Cup of Nations winning coach and Coach of the Year Stephen Keshi was handed the team.
