Ghana capable of winning 2013 AFCON title - Fatawu Dauda

Goalkeeper Fatawu Dauda believes Ghana can go all the way at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations adding that fans will be surprised at the performance of the team.

The Black Stars will be making their 19th appearance at the continental showpiece after qualifying at the expense of Malawi.

The West African giants have been tipped as one of the huge favourites to win the title.

The Ashantigold shot-stopper who has been named in the initial 26-man squad for the tournament believes the Ghanaians are capable of ending a long-wait for an African crown.

“We are going into the tournament with a sense of optimism. We are capable of winning the cup,” Dauda said

“But of course we have to work hard to achieve that feat. We have not won the cup in 30-years and I think it’s time for us to win something for our country.

“Our opponents will be tough but we’re also confident we have the men capable of beating any nation on a good day.”

Ghana are housed in pool B where they will engage old foes DR Congo and Mali as well as less-fancied Niger in Port Elizabeth.
