Yeovil Town are expected to cast their eye over a teenage Ghana-born German attacker Ferdinand Takyi when they return for pre-season training this summer.

The 19-year-old has been offered a chance to impress Glovers’ manager Gary Johnson according to Warwickshire firm UK Football Trials.

The 6ft 2ins player who originally hails from Ghana is believed to have plied his trade with German fifth tier outfit TB Uphusen at some point before linking up with UKFT, as well as Eintracht Braunschweig under-19s.

It is believed that Takyi was scouted during a spell on trial in London, with UKFT describing him as a strong athlete with pace and good acceleration. Choosing to study has delayed his professional opportunity.

The Glovers are to take a look at him, and describe him as a "both footed attacking midfielder who can play left, right or centre.

A great athlete, superb pace, strength on the ball, who has electric acceleration, good in the air, a strong shot and great touch.

His vision and awareness was outstanding and he showed himself to be polite, intelligent and good personality.
