Ghana coach Akwasi Appiah believes the Black Stars are better equipped now to succeed at the World Cup than they were almost four years ago in South Africa.

Ghana have been drawn in a tough group alongside Germany, Portugal and USA.

The Black Stars know they have a fight on their hands - if they are to meet the preferred target of at least a semi final berth – meeting these crack sides.

But coach Akwasi Appiah believes his team is even better now than the 2010 crop that came to a penalty shootout away from a historic semi final qualification.

“It’s nice to meet Germany and also the US, who we beat in the last 16 in 2010,” Appiah said.

“We are a better team than in 2010 and I’m sure there will be a lot of surprises in this group.

“Talking of Germany, Portugal, United States and Ghana, you have to term it the Group of Death, but as I said before the draw, once you are prepared to go to the World Cup, you must be prepared to face any team that comes to a World Cup.”

Ghana will open its World Cup campaign against the USA before facing Germany and then Portugal.
