The Ghana FA are facing a real fight from other countries in securing a camping base for the Black Stars at the 2014 World Cup.

The Ghanaian delegation inspected hotel facilities earmarked to become home for the Black Stars during next year’s tournament in Brazil after last week’s draw which placed Ghana in Group G alongside Germany, Portugal and USA.

Ghana is however not the only country interested in securing these earmarked venues for their camping base for the World Cup.

Delegations from other countries were encountered during Ghana’s search for a suitable camping base.

Ghana will have to depend on lady luck through a FIFA balloting once it’s settled venue clashes with the interest from other countries.

“After the draw on 6th of December, we also had to go round and visited a number of hotels and select a team base camp [for the Black Stars],” Ghana FA boss Kwesi Nyantakyi briefed the media on the delegation’s arrival from Brazil on Wednesday night.

“The team base camp is a mandatory place that every team must stay during the group stage matches. And these hotels are usually shortlisted by FIFA.

“So we went to visit four of them and we have reviewed all these things and pretty soon, hopefully by next week we will be taking a decision on where the Black Stars will be based and we will communicate that to you as soon as possible.”

Ghana FA’s Communications Director Ibrahim Sannie-Daara was quick to add information about the FIFA balloting process to determine the team base camp for the Black Stars.

“Mind you also that the team base camp that the President [Nyantakyi] spoke about will be balloted for,” he added.

“We are not getting it just because we have chosen it. Other countries will also be competing for the same positions.

“The last venue we went, just before we left, we’ve been told that we are in competition over that place with Greece.

“So it is not just that because we have visited the place, we’ve seen the places, we are just going to get them.

“If we bid for them, it will also depend on who else have bided for the place and we will see what FIFA decides.”

The Ghana FA have set May 25 for the commencement of camping for the Black Stars towards the World Cup in Brazil.
