Ghana-based South African defender Shaun October says he is disgusted over xenophobia attacks in his country which have seen many Africans killed in recent days.

The right-back, who plays for Ghanaian giants Hearts of Oak, says he is ashamed to be a South African living in another African country where is is treated excellently.

The recent spate of xenophobia, which has badly dented the image of the country, has saddened the football industry which has such close ties with many foreign players, coaches and fans.

October has won many hearts in Ghana for his display for the Phobians and says he is ashamed by what is happening in his country which has seen many Africans killed.

“What the f*** South Africa!! Stop the Xenophobia. I am ashamed to be in a foreign country where they treat me so well," October wrote on his Facebook wall.

"Is this a colour thing? because I don’t see white people doing any killing or burning."

South Africa has in recent days witnessed a spate of some of the most violent xenophobic attacks on other African nationals living in the country claiming they are taking their jobs.

The violence perpetrated on foreign nationals have badly dented the image of the country in the eyes of the international community.
