Posted On Friday, 3rd February 2012

Black Stars to wear black armbands in solidarity of Anthony Annan who has lost the mum

The Ghana Football Association has asked Caf to allow our players to wear the black armband in memory of the mum of Anthony Annan who died on Thursday.

President Kwesi Nyantakyi, who doubles as Caf’s venue head for Franceville, has written to continent’s governing body for permission.

If granted, the Black Stars will wear the armbands in their quarter-final clash against Tunisia on Sunday.

Annan has been a key player for Ghana at the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations having started in all their three matches so far.

His mother Sophia Sampson passed away on Thursday at the Cape-Coast hospital after a short illness.

I am not sure whether he should be allowed to play.
It s bound to affect him.Personally I don’t think he should had been told of the sad news until the tournament was over for Ghana.

@kwame naagbewa,Now tell what I have said that make me sound that I make bad decision in my life. What is naive and childish in what I said. What is your reason behind your statement. You don’t know me,hence how can you spew out that statement.I would understand it if you had said that it was impossible because of what he is.I can only say you’re not practical and too emotional.

        • kwame naagbewa says:

I refer to your comment that ”I dont think he should had been told of the sad news until the tournament was over for Ghana”
That would have been a very disastrous decision with dire consequences if your advice was taken by the GFA.

          • Okomfo Anokye says:

That is your oppinion and I beg to differ.
Now tell me,What bad decisions have I made in my life that you’re referring to?
Do you know me? I don’t think so.
All I am saying to you is ,you don’t attack people personally, paticularly if you don’t know them.By all means comment on what is said, but do not attack them personally. This is what I object to. Got it!
