Ghana attacker Afum ITC arrives, set to make Young Boys league debut

Posted On Friday, 15th February 2013

Samuel Afum has been cleared by FIFA to play in the Swiss Super League for Young Boys

Ghana attacker Samuel Afum has been cleared by FIFA to start his Young Boys career as the world football governing body has issued his International Transfer Certificate.

The 22-year-old who signed a three-and-half-year contract with the Bern-based side had his Swiss Super League debut put on hold after Egyptian Premier League side FC Smouha failed to release his ITC despite FIFA’s instructions to do so.

Smouha were insisting the former Ghana Premier League golden shoe winner left the Alexandria-based side illegally and were not prepared to release his ITC.

But FIFA have issued an ITC for Afum giving him the clearance to play in Saturday’s crucial game against Grasshopper at the Stadion Letzigrund.

Afum expressed his delight about his ITC’s arrival through his Blackberry status.

“My ITC is in now. Thank you very much lord,” he updated.

Young Boys boss Martin Rueda watched the former Ghana U23 attacker net twice in three friendly games last month and would be counting on his pace and incredible finishing on Saturday.

Affum needs a national team call up

  2. cool says:

Asamoah Gyan if you are reading this, please do Ghana and the entire supporters a favour. Please don’t show up when you are called for our next assignment against Sudan. Please watch all the 6 games we played in SA and you’ll see what Iam talking about.I don’t know how you get selected with your current performance ( I hope you are not bribing your way through. Please my advice to to you is to stay in Al- Ain and make your money because you don’t have qualities of a modern day striker

  3. Maxwell Johnson says:

Affum is the next big thing for GH football, he has everything a striker needs. He’s got pace, technique, shooting accuracy and some sublime skills to take on defenders with ease, he is a nightmare to defenders.

In Egypt they call him the “JET” due to his enormous pace, he makes defenders work a lot. That “AWAM” coach (A.A) should start monitoring him now or if possible give him a call-up cuz he will be key in our WC qualifiers, he’s the real deal. Good luck Affum, we expect you to make it BIG in the Swiss Super League. Hopefully you’ll move to one of the biggest clubs in the world such as Man United, Barcelona, RM, AC Milan or Juventus in 2 yrs time.

  4. gentle john says:

I now understand why people don’t like Kwesi Nyantakyi and his gang,i thought they are good and wanted Black Stars well but i have now seen they are only interested in money,i think the Government should force them to account for the funds the sent to South Africa and if there are misuse of funds they should charge costing financial lost to the nation and they must go to jail.
How can you ask this incompetent Kwesi Appiah to continue as Black Stars coach,i am very sad for Ghana football,we will not qualify for the Brazil World Cup because of this greedy bastards group call GFA.

  5. lukman says:

Thanks and glory be to God for this good news. Striker, may God guide you to success and more goals. UNCLE KWESI APPIAH pls watch this boy

  6. Kisy says:

Jordan, Boakye – yiadom, waris and afum are the strikers to lead Ghana to nations cup glory. The should be called up in our next match. They are young, hungry, skilful, good finishers and want to make names for themselves unlike gyan who is old, wasteful and thinks he is doing the country a favour.

  7. Slim says:

I thinkk we have to revert to the formation we use to play n play two arrow head strikers wen playing 4-5-1 we need a sharp striker but gyan has lost his pace.

  8. ADWEN says:

U GUYS ARE FULL OF HATRED ..DO U THINK PLAYING FOR THE NATIONAL IS A SMALL THING EXAMPLE IS JORDAN ALWAYS PLAYING KIDS PLAY WHENEVER HE’S CALLED TO DA NT ..N DOES HE PLAY LIKE DAT IN OM. U LET DA COACH CALL DIS YOUNG GUYS U CRYING FOR N WILL SEE DA INEXPERIENCE

  9. MUMPLEY says:

AA line up for nest march:Fatau,Paintsil,Boye,Vorsa,Kisi,Rabiu,Badu,K Asamoah,Dede,Affum,Waris.Pls try this.
