The United States have allayed fears their head coach Jurgen Klinsmann could take over as new manager at either Tottenham Hotspurs or Switzerland.

The former Germany talisman has been strongly linked with the English Premier League side who parted ways with their head coach Andreas Villas-Boas two days ago.

Switzerland have also been mentioned a likely destination for Klinsmann but United States Soccer Federation president Sunil Gulati has told the Sun he is confident Jurgen Klinsmann will not be joining Tottenham.

Gulati said: "We're not oblivious to the fact Jurgen's success has attracted interest from outside the US.

"Therefore there were pragmatic market considerations in offering him a new long-term contract.

"It's not specifically the Switzerland or Tottenham issues - but the desire to have a commitment from him, contractually, for a long time is vital."

Klinsmann has received praises for turning over the Yankees and he is tipped to guide the USA to success in Rio next June.
