The date for the commencement of this year’s GHALCA Top 4 tournament has been moved back from 24 to 27 August upon the request of champions Asante Kotoko.

The Porcupine Warriors claim they lack the requisite match fitness to open their campaign against rivals Asante Kotoko in Accra.

But per the new arrangements, Kotoko will travel to capital to face the Herbert Addo’s side on Wednesday.

“Kotoko raised valid concerns regarding the start date of the Top 4 which we see as valid.’ GHALCA chairman Alhaji Raji said.

“They have explained to us that due to their planned tour of Spain, they had been on non-residential camping before leaving the country and so are not competitively ready to go into the tournament next weekend.

“In our bid to have all teams ready and competing at a high level, we have decided to review the date for the start of the tournament.

The competition will feature the top four teams of last season’s Ghana Premier League- Kotoko, Heart of Lions, Hearts of Oak and AshantiGold.
