GFA President Kwesi Nyantakyi wants investigations into alleged match-fixing scandal

Ghana FA President Kwesi Nyantakyi has called for investigations into an alleged match-fixing scandal influenced by sport betting.

Newly appointed coach of BA United Mohammed Gargo accused his players of playing it soft to lose matches for betting gains.

Gargo claims leading supporters of the club fed him with the information of the illegal betting activities of his players.

The ex Black Stars player attributed the sides’ current predicament in the First Capital Plus League to the brewing cancer and insists the side will not be successful with such a situation even if they employ Jose Mourinho as coach.

GFA boss Kwesi Nyantakyi has also revealed receiving a similar information of which he wants a thorough investigation conducted to establish the facts of the case.

“Last two weeks, a club chairman informed me of this developing situation,” he revealed in an interview with Happy FM.

“I am not happy with this situation and I think we must investigate it to get the facts.

“Mohammed Gargo’s comments is also out of suspicion so we need to go into the matter and get the right facts.”

The adverse effects of the influx of sport betting companies in Ghana appears to be emerging especially with its growing patronage amongst the youth.
