Ghanaian midfielder Gershon Koffie was re-instated in the Whitecaps starting line-up on his injury return and helped the Vancouver recored a 1-0 away win at Real Salt Lake on Saturday.

The former Inter Allies missed the 2-2 draw with Columbus Crew and the 1-0 defeat at San Jose Earthquakes.

Koffie was one of four changes made by Whitecaps coach Carl Robinson in a tough match.

He was making his fifth appearance of the season for the Canadian side.

Momentum swung the way of Whitecaps on 76 minutes when Real Salt Lake substitute Sebastian Saucedo, was issued a straight red card for a rash sliding tackle on Mauro Rosales, who was making his return after missing five matches with an ankle injury.

It only took four minutes for the ‘Caps to take advantage of the extra man.

Teibert made a terrific run up the left flank and swung in a perfect cross to a rising Mattocks who guided a header into the net for a 1-0 lead.
