World Cup hosts Brazil were torn apart in a jaw-dropping 7-1 scoreline by a rampant Germany side in Belo Horizonte on Tuesday night to reach the final of the tournament.

The Germans, who struggled to hold Ghana in the group phase of the tournament, dismantled the South Americans which seemed to break records with every passing minute.

Thomas Mueller kick-started Brazil’s worst ever defeat after 11 minutes when he was left free in the six-yard area following Toni Kroos’ corner – and with it became just the second player to score five goals at consecutive World Cups after Miroslav Klose achieved the feat in 2002 and 2006.

Klose doubled the lead 12 minutes later to begin arguably the most astonishing six minutes in the tournament’s history, surpassing Ronaldo’s 15-goal haul as he slotted the ball home after seeing his initial shot saved by Julio Cesar.

Next to add his name to the scoresheet was Toni Kroos, who helped himself to a quickfire brace. The first was a volleyed effort from 15 yards and the second an easy finish into an open net following a neat pass from Sami Khedira.

Khedira scored himself to make it 5-0, the Real Madrid midfielder sidefooting home to leave Brazilian players and fans utterly distraught.

Without star man Neymar to inspire in attack or, more importantly as it transpired, captain Thiago Silva to shore up the defence, Brazil were bereft of belief.

Despite their disastrous first half, Brazil did rally somewhat in the second but a series of impressive saves from Manuel Neuer kept the door to a comeback firmly closed.

But Germany refused to show any mercy.

Andre Schuerrle replaced Klose and needed just 10 minutes to score when he slotted in Philipp Lahm’s pass. It also meant Brazil had conceded six goals in a World Cup match for the first time in their history.

The Chelsea forward doubled his tally soon after with a thundering left-footed effort from a tight angle that gave Julio Cesar no chance. No team has ever scored seven goals in a World Cup semi-final.

Brazil did, at least, have the final say as Oscar sprinted through to score a goal that was scant consolation to those in yellow.

The humiliation was complete when Brazil’s fans started shouting “Ole!” with every Germany player’s touch.

Joachim Low’s side will face Netherlands or Argentina in the final at the Maracana on Sunday. Luiz Felipe Scolari’s side must now prepare for a third-place playoff, while Germany – who overtook Brazil to become the top scoring nation in World Cup history – can look forward to a first appearance in the final since they last won the trophy in 1990.

Nobody should think because Brazil lost to Germany and we held Germany, that makes Appiah a good coach. The fact is Appiah fumbled at AFCON 2012 and could not win a single match at the world cup.Appiah must step down.

    • spellBOUND says:

oh masa please say that again.. some clueless FOOLS were making that point on the other threads… i have to say their comments really angered me… how some people still defend this clueless coach and administration is beyond me..

AA is the most stupid man alive. He is not a coach .He has no coaching credential. He is a local ex footballer .We could have won the World Cup but for this idiot called AA.
Playing K.Asamoah at left back when he could have been effective in midfield. This a person who was a left back during his playing days, yet for two years could not guide a single player to master the left back position and adhered to the cheap option, playing Kwadwo Asamoah to the detriment of our attacking play.
AA your cup is full.Prepare for public insult whenever you come to UK.Stupid ,very stupid man indeed.

  4. milky says:

@SHANGO you are soo right!!!!! I have always said that the players are carrying the coach on their shoulders. That whole game was the players trying really hard. AA sucks!!

  5. Philip says:

I agree with you SHANGO,after all Csmeoun also drew 2-2 with Germany.Appiah is not a good coach because of AFCON 2013 and the world cup.Even Germany is given to Appiah he still mess up.

  6. selfmade says:

When I said prior to the WC that Germany always reserves their best for tournaments, people thought that i was crazy! Some of them said that, Germany is weak blah, blah etc but now I have been vindicated again! There is nothing that I have said over here that has not materialize and I hope forumites ll see the difference now!

Some people were even underrating Germany and I was really shocked about that!

Some forumites told me to go to a Germany thread and support them but now those people have been shamed by the Germans!

I have already said that, if there is one team that Ghana has to learn from, is the Germans!

Another vindication for me and I always knows what am saying!

  7. lion-fire says:

Otto Addo was the coach in the Germany game. Same way Appiah should have allowed for a scout for USA

  8. obama says:

Omly f–ls will defend n compare without contrasting.Football das nt follow logic Germany beat Portugal 4 – 0 USA 1-0 n both teams beat Ghana who helled Germany to 2 – 2 draw

  9. Lawrence says:

AA left the left full back position for himself to don the jersey to play. Those he has being putting there are not left full backs. They are masqueraders who went to the World stage to joke and got whipped silly.

  10. Alex zz says:

I am not shocked cos I remember how Germany thumped us 6-1 in ’93.

  11. Alex zz says:

AA is a great coach and I want to believe that he’s gona end our trophy less run.

  12. Boro says:

Well i still believe that we lost in the US game because we were just simply not lucky and lost of concentration on the part of the players. We dominated in that game, created all the chances but just had a bad day. The guys improved tremendously when we met the Germans with virtually the same crop of players and in that match we had the chance to hammer these Germans had it not been the selfishness of some of the players. We could have still qualified had it not been player revolt which in my opinion was avoidable and unecessary both on the part of the players and the minister because that is where i will put my blame. However, there are three areas i agree with the forumites that AA flawed but as to whether those were enough reasons to see AA’s back? I do not think so. The areas are FAVOURITISM: i am yet to be convinced the reasons for the inclusion of Inkoom, Adomah and Essien if not based on favouritism TACTICS: His continues deploying of Kwadwo at the left full back position. However, i personally cannot blame him so much looking at the fact that he atleast solved the left full back problem for us. Also considering the fact that he had formerly been used at the midfield during our qualifier and also in the previous world cup and in both situations i would not say he was excellent. So what are people main point? I think we have to be careful in condemning him totally. INDISCIPLINE: His failure to stand on his ground to weed out the so called indiscipline players before they had strike was also a source of worry. Maybe he faulted in identifying all strenght and weaknesses of his players. Some of us commented on that but maybe they underrated it. However, can these be enough reasons to sack the coach? I am personally looking at how he and Maxwell Konadu have managed to group these young and talented players against all odds where people even heavily critisized him for using that many players during the qualifier. I guess that initiative paved the way to that many many talents the BS have today. When i checked he had used over 40 different players during the qualifier. He now seems to know this team better than any new coach we fight to bring. Then the new coach has to start all over again. We all should remember that sometimes continuity pays. Initially after our elemination i was simply angry and wanted anyone around the team sacked. But is that the best way to go? In my opinion the answer is definitely NO!

Boro, you seem and sound like a level headed and a fair person. However, I’m not going to try to sound technical, I will look at all that has happened to our team from a simple man’s point.
      1) As a simple minded guy, when I watch the Germans I THINK they play with some sort of tactics but I feel like AA tries but he fails and cannot read the game to make changes that will have any meaningful impact to the game. I remember when I was kid; Ghana had this coach who after the half time always makes changes and Ghana will lift their game if we weren’t. I think we called him the master tactician.
      2) AA should be able to manage the players we have to get the best out of them. If players like Balloteli with huge such egos are managed by coaches to produces his best how come our AA cannot manage the current team of which none of them have egos close to that of Ballotellis’? Don’t get me wrong, some of our players have egos.
      3) AA has been a coach for a while and he has done nothing special, if something at all, he had rather set us back. Before he took the job, we placed second in Afcon and Ghana was able to make it to the quarter finals of the 2010 world Cup…we all most made it to the semis had it not been that evil guy. And with our current team of quality players, it’s really sad AA couldn’t use them to achieve his target.
To summarize, I say AA has done nothing thing for Ghana since he took the job, he keeps on saying we are building a team, but how long is it going to take – forever?! AA was hired to make it to the semis of this World Cup but he missed it by a wide margin as such he has failed to reach the target set for him so I see no reason he should be maintained as the coach. Let me put it this way for you – If you hired a manager to improve you business but he was rather doing worse than the years before he took over and you are losing money, would you keep him? I wouldn’t and I believe most people wouldn’t either! AA has to go, he has failed us. A new quality coach will only need a few months to get to know his players and not 4 years like AA did.

The Akans say, when God picks his stone, He does not throw it too quickly. God has now punished the Brazilians for cheating Ghana in the 2006 World Cup when A. Gyan was shown red card for alleged simulation when he was obviously fouled in the 18 and deserved a penalty. The Brazilians had been given two clear off side goals. We were also fraudulently reduced to 10 when we won the U 20 World Cup against them. Then when we played a friendly with them in London, we were again shown the red card before they scored their 1 goal. Since the 2006 World Cup, I have never supported them like before. Again, like the Akans say, God is not like a Nigerian.
