German-born Ghanaian attacker Karim Bellarabi has suggested he would choose Morocco ahead of Ghana after admitting his love for the North African country.

The 25-year-old's nationality has come to the fore following his swashbuckling form in the Bundesliga for Bayer 04 Leverkusen.

Bellarabi was born to a Ghanaian father who has a German passport and a Moroccan mother in Germany.

Though he has never been to the West African country, his father in 2012, claimed he could convince the attacker who is capped by German at U19 level to switch his nationality to Ghana, generating Ghanaian interest.

But the player has suggested he could opt for Morocco, where his mother hails from though he admits his attention is on Leverkusen for the time being.

“I love Morocco as much as I love Germany. I count both as home. My father is German, my mother Moroccan,” Bellarabi told Bundesliga.com.

“It's not something I'm thinking about yet, though. I'll see what happens in the future, but at the moment my focus is wholly on Leverkusen and everything else will sort itself out.”

His impressive form has seen him netted four goals since the start of the season in all competitions and scored the Bundesliga's all-time fastest goal a fortnight ago.
