The Ghana Football Association Executive Committee has named George Afriyie as chairman of the Black Stars management committee.

He replaces Kwesi Nyantakyi, president of the Ghana Football Association, who has decided to step down after three years and his first major test will be the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea.

Afriyie, who has been chairman of the Ghana U20 management committee, makes a rise after 12 years in active football management since 2002.

The director of Ghana Premier League side Liberty Professionals holds a Diploma in Purchasing and Supply (HND) and Diploma in Business Management.

Afriyie has also served as chairman of Gamba All Blacks and Chief Executive of Great Olympics where he handled a lot of Ghanaian players.

Between 2006-2011, he was a member of the Division One League Board and vice chairman of the Black Meteors management committee.

Afriyie is an Emergency Committee member and chairman of the National Juvenile Committee.
