Emmanuel Frimpong has his fingers crossed for his maiden call up to the Ghana national team for next month’s World Cup qualifier against Sudan.

The 21-year-old is yet to play for the Black Stars since securing FIFA clearance to feature for the four-time African champions.

The on-loan Arsenal player at Fulham is however hopeful he will get his debut Ghana call for next month’s crucial 2014 World Cup qualifier against Sudan haven received some encouragements from coach Akwasi Appiah.

“I want to play for Ghana and, hopefully, I can start doing that very soon,” he said.

“That is my aim, to get into the squad. But for that to happen, I need to start playing regularly.

“I spoke to the manager recently and he said I should just carry on playing my football and see what happens for the next game.

“That is next month so we will have to wait and see what he decides.”

Frimpong played for England at youth level but decided to play at senior level for the Black Stars a little over a year ago.

He was finally granted permission to feature for Ghana late last year after several back and forth’s between the Ghana FA and FIFA.
