Shaibu Yakubu is eager to improve his scoring form

Former Ghana youth international Shaibu Yakubu says he wants to improve his scoring form in the Turkish second-tier after scoring for 1461 Trabzon last Saturday.

The 27-year-old scored just his second goal in the entire season for Trabzon 2-2 home stalemate with Mersin ?dmanyurdu.

Things have not been very rosy for the ex-AshGold forward since his return to Turkey from Cyprus but he is eager to get his scoring form back on track.

"I definitely want to improve my scoring form before the end of the season though I can't mention the specific number of goals I'll score," he told GHANAsoccernet.com.

"Things have not gone very well for me here since I returned. I have faced formidable challenges off-the-pitch but as a footballer I have to put everything behind me and play enjoy the football.

I have also been playing as a winger for sometime now and that has contributed to the reduction in my scoring rate. But because of my body size its a good position for me. I'm more comfortable there."

Yakubu, who became prominent in Ghana in the 2003 Ghana Premier League season after his impressive scoring form for AshGold, joined Trabzon from Cypriot side Enosis.
