Ex-Ghana international Joetex Frimpong made a winning start to life as Sportclub Derendinge coach in their 1-0 win at GS ItalGrenchen in the Swiss lower division League.

Fielding a bold attacking side in his first game of his coaching career, Frimpong saw exactly how it is to be on the other side of the table.

They struggled to find a way through against a disciplined GS ItalGrenchen side who would have been good value for a point.

However a fine strike against the run of play provided Derendinge with a lifeline.

Frimpong, who earned 11 caps for the Black Stars, was promoted to the new role after Italian Salvatore Terranova lost his position.

“Coaching Derendingen is a fresh experience for me and I’m ready for the challenge. I arrived Switzerland eight years ago to play for Young Boys and I’m proud to begin another experience as manager after scoring goals for Derendingen as a player,” Frimpong told Supersport.com.

The former Enyimba and Young Boys striker has acquired his coaching certificate after playing a coach-player role at the club.
