Ghanaian midfielder Michael Essien says he waiting for his chance to excel for Chelsea despite being left out of all the Blues matches so far this season.
Essien has been left out of the Chelsea line-up since returning from Real Madrid after completing his loan spell at the Spanish outfit.
The Ghanaian was in excellent form in the pre-season for Chelsea and it was thought he would play a key role for the club this season.
However he has been left on the bench but proved his fitness and good form with his masterful display when Ghana defeated Zambia in a World Cup qualifier last week.
Despite being left out of the Chelsea squad Essien insists he is in good form and ready to play when coach Mourinho deems it right.
“I’m feeling very sharp and fit,” Essien said.
“I haven’t missed a single training session since we came back for pre-season so I feel good.
“I’m just waiting for an opportunity, and as soon as the manager needs me I’m ready to help the team.”
Essien is expected to be a key player for Ghana in subsequent World Cup qualifiers.
