John Antwi's impressive run in Egypt appears to have paid divdends with a Black Stars call up

In-form Egyptian based striker John Antwi has been handed a deserved call up into Ghana’s provisional squad for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations, according to reports in the local media.

The Ghana FA, according to reports will be releasing a 31-man provisional list of players to vie for positions for the final 23-man squad for next year’s tournament to be staged in Equatorial Guinea.

Antwi who plays for Ismaily has bagged an impressive 12 goals in 14  games in the Egyptian top flight.

The 22-year-old is on track to retain the top scorer’s award he clinched at the end of last season.

He has even been a subject of intense transfer talk in Egypt with Ismaily declaring he is not for sale at least during the January transfer window.

Antwi will be looking to clinch one of the limited striking places available in the final Black Stars squad for the 2015 AFCON.

He will be coming up against the likes of Jordan Ayew, Abdul Majeed Waris and David Accam with captain Asmaoah Gyan widely expected to be the main man upfront for the Black Stars.
