Renowned Ghanaian coach Isaac ‘Opeele’ Boateng has suggested five tactical ways Hearts of Oak must employ to beat Asante Kotoko on Sunday.
The Phobians will be hosting their arch rivals in the latest instalment of the Super Clash in the Ghana Premier League.
Both teams are going into the game in pretty much good form haven secured wins in their opening Premier League matches last weekend.
Coach Isaac Boateng now comes in with his five things Hearts must do to secure another famous win over Kotoko.
1 Hearts’ shooting
Hearts must try shots from afar with Isaac Amoako in post. He is deficient with long range shots and therefore the Phobians can capitalize on this.
They should however employ win play with crisp crosses if Soulama Abdoulaye is selected to man the Kotoko post. Soulama is good with long range shots as a proven shot-stopper but could be caught with good aerial balls.
2 Hearts must pressure Michael Akuffo
Michael Akuffo will be heavily relied upon by Kotoko because of his effective ball distributions. He can pick his passes and put in through balls which will be very devastating for Hearts if he is allowed time and space on the ball. If Kotoko’s attack will be stopped on Sunday, it starts with stopping Michael Akuffo.
3 Attack Kotoko’s left sided defence
Hearts will have a lot of joy if they are able to exploit the left defence flank of Asante Kotoko. Mas-Ud Dramani will field either Eric Donkor or Joseph Ochaya who are not as effective in defence as going forward.
4 Hearts must score first
It is the supreme trump card. A first goal for Hearts will prove very vital in unsettling Kotoko. With the expected vociferous Phobian fans, a get ahead goal is all they need to get the machine rolling for a win.
5 Tabs on Bancey and Mohammed
Seidu Bancey has appreciated tremendously on his scoring form. He is 2/2 in games against Medeama and Aduana Stars in the two opening games of Kotoko.
Hearts also ought to be wary of the threat provided by Yahaya Mohammed. A dead ball specialist – any infringement committed in and around the Hearts danger area will surely be punished by the midfielder who has very good feet and an eye for goal too.
