First Capital Plus Bank explains delay in paying prize money for league champions Kotoko
Ghana Premier League.

Ghana Premier League title sponsors First Capital Plus Bank claim they were unaware about financially rewarding champions Asante Kotoko.

According to the Ghanaian wholly owned financial institution, they thought the amount was included in the sponsorship money for the league.

Kotoko won their 23rd league title in June but have still not received their prize money.

The Porcupine Warriors were presented with a cheque for GHC 65,000 but the sponsors say they can’t be blamed for the delay.

“The truth of the matter is that, we initially thought the prize money for the champions was part of the sponsorship deal with the FA, because we had asked them [GFA] to present us the full budget for the League, only for them to inform us later that they did not include the prize money to the budget,” Marketing Manager for First Capital Plus Nana Yaw Kese is quoted by Ghanasportsonline.

“So that is the main reason why this has happened. But we are working on it and we will make sure we sort out Asante Kotoko.”
