Ghana international midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah insists Juventus are all but ready psychologically to face AC Milan in the Serie A’s top-liner on Saturday night.

Asamoah returns to the flank at the San Siro after playing in central midfield during the 2-0 Champions League victory over Malmo.

“We know this is a very important game tonight, so we are above all ready psychologically,” Asamoah told Sky Sport Italia.

He is not the only Ghana international on the field, as Milan start Sulley Muntari with Michael Essien starting from the bench.

“We didn’t talk about this match. We do tend to talk, but not this week…” he laughed. “We are facing a motivated Milan side who are riding on enthusiasm, but we are ready.”

Milan go into the game with a 100% record in the Serie A, having won both of their opening games.

Milan also defeated Juventus 1-0 in the off-season TIM Cup tournament.

Ex-Ghana defender Sam Johnson does not expect the dismissal of Kwesi Appiah to affect the ambitions of the Black Stars.

Appiah was relieved of his duties two weeks ago just a day after he had led the team to beat Togo 3-2 in Lome in a 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

He spent 29 months in-charge including qualifying and leading the team at the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

The Ghana Football Association is expected to name his successor before the double AFCON qualifiers all against Guinea next month.

Johnson believes the team can pick themselves up against and become a force on the continent.

“Kwesi Appiah himself knew he was not going to be the coach of the Black Stars forever,” the former Anderlecht star told GHANASoccernet.com

“Coaches will come and coaches will go but the most important thing is the continual progress of the team.

“As professionals as the players are, I am sure they will put this behind them with the backing of the FA to get back on track.

“One of the things that makes football beautiful is the unpredictability of the game and this is just part.”

Sensational Ghana youth star Nasiru Mohammed netted a hat-trick for BK Hacken in their 5-1 demolition of Brommapojkarna in the Swedish Allsvenskan on Saturday afternoon.

The 20-year-old made a huge statement about his massive talent by scoring in the 12th, 64th and 91st minutes at the Grimsta IP in Stockholm.

Nasiru who is seen as a replacement for Ghana striker Majeed Waris at Hacken has had ups and downs this season but on Saturday afternoon, he went out of hands for Brommapojkarna as he punished their defensive frailties.

The hat-trick has taken his season tally to six in 18 games.

Young midfielder Richard Donkor was unused as he watched the game from the bench while Bechem United loan striker Augustine Okrah could not make the Hacken squad for the game.

Adomah right footed shot from very close range to the bottom right corner following an intelligent move initiated by Emilio Nsue Lopez.

The Equatorial Guinea international tailored a cross from the right and Adomah met it a brilliant sliding effort to beat the visitors’ keeper.

After Adomah’s strike, Aitor Karanka’s men went ahead to put more goals behind their visitors with Kike scoring the fourth despite Middlesbrough’s numerical disadvantage.

Ghana’s chance in hosting 2017 AFCON alive as CAF decides against unscheduled naminghttp://www.ghanasoccernet.com/ghanas-chance-hosting-2017-afcon-alive-caf-decides-unscheduled-naming/ http://www.ghanasoccernet.com/ghanas-chance-hosting-2017-afcon-alive-caf-decides-unscheduled-naming/#comments Sat, 20 Sep 2014 16:14:38 +0000 http://www.ghanasoccernet.com/?p=266829 Abedi Pele want to give Ghana the chance of hosting the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations

Abedi Pele want to give Ghana the chance of hosting the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations

Ghana are still in the chance of hosting the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations after CAF on Saturday decided against the an unscheduled naming of the host for the competition.

Kenya, Algeria, Ethiopia, Ghana, Mali and Zimbabwe are interested in replacing strife-torn Libya as the 2017 hosts ahead of a September 30 deadline for bids.

Top CAF chief were considering naming Algeria as hosts of the competition because of the availability of facilities after it joined the bid to host the 2017 and 2019 bids.

However, CAF binned the idea and instead made the unscheduled announcement of naming Guinea at the host

The countries including Ghana will make their bid presentations before a decision is taken on the host of the competition which is just three years awau.

Each country will make a 30-minute, eve-of-vote presentation early next year and the executive committee also have a report on each candidate to help them decide.

A five-man inspection team will spend several days in each of the countries seeking to host the tournament.

Among the facilities under the Caf microscope were stadiums, training grounds, hotels, hospitals and media centres, plus road, rail and air links.

The Nations Cup has been spread around the continent recently with southern, central, western and northern countries among the previous five hosts.

Ethiopia were the last east African hosts in 1976 with cash-strapped Kenya withdrawing as 1996 hosts and South Africa taking over.

The 2017 Cup of Nations hosts will be named only next year even though the 2019 and 2021 hosts are known.

Ghana international midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng had to take an early shower after receiving a red card in Schalke 04′s 2-2 stalemate with Eintracht Frankfurt in the German Bundesliga on Saturday afternoon.

The 27-year-old was twice booked at the Veltins Arena (either halves) as Schalke were reduced to ten men in the 61st minute, his marching off before Julien Draxler also received a straight red card ten minutes later.

Boateng declared himself fit and was started by manager Jens Keller following his commanding performance for the Royal Blues against Chelsea in the Uefa Champions League.

He picked a booking in the 25th minute following his challenge on Frankfurt midfielder before ‘unnecessarily’ applying a tackle on a midfielder just after the hour mark to claim his second booking.

The sending off means Boateng will miss two successive games for Schalke in the Bundesliga.

Saturday afternoon’s red care is Boateng’s ninth league sending off.
