CK Akunnor was sacked by Hearts on Wednesday
Fawaz Zouk has lashed out at the Hearts Directors for dismissing head coach CK Akunnor, after just five games in charge this season.
Akunnor was shown the exit door after Hearts endured a difficult start to the Premier League campaign.
He supervised three defeats, a draw and a win.
The club’s Board of Directors succumbed to the agitations of a section of their supporters and approved the sacking of the former Ghana captain at an emergency meeting on Wednesday.
But the former Board member insists authorities got it wrong in parting away with the 38-year-old.
“I was shocked. I was not expecting the board to take such a decision at this crucial time,” Zouk told Kumasi-based Fox FM
“They got it wrong. That’s my personal opinion. Don’t’ forget Akunnor took this team through the pre-season training. He trained with all the best for quite a long time.
“He knows the plus and minus of every player. When you sack a coach as this early stage, it a serious decision.
“I only pray that the board has taken the right decision. We all have our minuses and pluses in this life.
“For me they should have been patient. Don’t forget also we don’t have a coach and we don’t have a CEO.”
Assistant coach Ben Adjei will take temporal charge of the club ahead of Sunday’s Premier League game against Real Tamale United.
