Defender Jonathan Mensah has blamed Ghana’s 3-1 defeat to Japan in the international friendly matched played on Tuesday to fatigue.
The Evian TG player came on in the second half of the friendly haven lasted the entire duration of Ghana’s 2-1 win over Zambia in the 2014 World Cup qualifiers four days earlier.
Mensah central defender now explains the long hour journey to play the Asians following a gruelling win over Zambia was having its toll on the players in the second half haven gone into recess 1-0 up.
“We did well in the first half but in the first half but didn’t keep up this performance in the second half,” he said.
“We had made a long trip from Ghana and they were here so you could clearly see fatigue was setting in.”
The Ghana FA are however in the process of lining up another friendly close to the first leg of the World Cup qualifying playoffs next month.
Italy and USA are said to be the likely friendly opponents for the Black Stars in October.
