Father of Ghana defender Isaac Vorsah dies

Father of Ghana defender Isaac Vorsah has died after battling a short illness, GHANAsoccernet.com can confirm.

The death of the player's father comes just two days after the defender arrived in the country to visit the ailing father and play for Ghana in the 2014 World Cup qualifier against Sudan on Sunday.

It is not known if the defender will be allowed some time off from the Black Stars training sessions which start on Tuesday.

The sad and painful news comes just days after Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan buried his mother last Saturday.

Details are sketchy but Mr Evans Boye is said to have passed onto glory after failing to recover from an unnamed illness.

This brings to four the number of Ghanaian internationals who have lost either their father or mother in a little over a year.

Anthony Annan, John Boye and Asamoah Gyan have all lost one of their parents.

Vorsah who plays for Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg is expected to play a key role for the Black Stars in Sunday’s World Cup qualifier against Sudan.
