Ghanaian midfielder Reuben Ayarna has returned to Swedish side GAIS in the second-tier league after signing a short-term deal on Sunday.

Ayarna left GAIS in 2012 following the club’s relegation from the elite division and joined fellow Allsvenskan side BK Hacken.

His short-term personal goal is to quickly get in top physical shape to compete in midfield for a starting place.

The 28-year-old decided to rejoin the Green-Blacks after returning from a three-week trial exercise from Greece.

“I have wanted to return for two reasons. One is that I like this club very much. The other is to get revenge from the failure of 2012, when we went out of the headlines. I want to help GAIS through this season,” Ayarna told the club’s website.

GAIS are struggling this term in the Superettan as they lie in the relation play-off zone in 13th place on the 16-team table.

Ayarna has played a total of 99 matches for GAIS and Hacken in the top-flight and sporting director Jonas lundén is delighted with his signing.

“Reuben has qualities that we need to pick up for that to be the case with games. We manage to find your way back to the 2011 levels of Reuben regarding tempo, fit quality and defensive responsibility this is a good signing,” lundén told the club's website.
