EXCLUSIVE: Heart of Lions appoint Stephen Abugri as new assistant coach
Stephen Abugri has been appointed as new Heart of Lions assistant coach

Heart of Lions have appointed Stephen Abugri as their new assistant coach, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

Abugri replaces Ben Foku who has been relieved off his duties to concentrate on the country’s Under-17 Women’s national team.

The ambitious trainer will work under Yusif Abubakar who coached him during his playing days at Bolgatanga-based Mighty Rocks in 1994.

“I have been appointed as the assistant coach of Heart of Lions,” Abugri told Ghana’s leading football website, GHANAsoccernet.com

“I am delighted to work under coach Yusif Abubakar. He coached me during my playing days and it’s an honour to work with him again.

“I am looking forward to contributing my quota to the success of the team. This is a team in progress and I believe with the right attitude and determination, we’ll get there.

“He recommended me to King Faisal and so I believe with his rich vein of experience and mine, we’ll form a good team to put Lions back at the top.”

The trained teacher guided King Faisal back to the top of the elite division after just a season in the second-tier two years ago.

He also qualified Okwahu United to the National Division One League promotional playoffs.
