Ghana youth international Daniel Amartey is set to undergo a medical at Danish side FC Copenhagen and complete his transfer from Swedish side Djurgarden IF, Africanfootball.com has exclusively reported.
The 19-year-old left the clubââ¬â¢s training ground in Dalarna on Wednesday afternoon to finalize his move.
Amartey, a midfielder-cum-defender, was previously linked with English Premier League giants Liverpool as excelling in his first year abroad.
ââ¬ÅWe are satisfied with the terms of the transfer, the bid was the best we got. The deal provides a necessary supplement to the clubââ¬â¢s finances,â⬠Djurgarden CEO Henrik Berggren said.
ââ¬ÅOf course it's a sporting setback for Daniel to leave us but we've been prepared for that. We have a fundamentally good squad that we have great confidence.ââ¬
Amartey, a former Inter Allies player, first came to Djurgarden in 2011 and trained with the first team but played for the U21 side.
When he turned 18 last year, he signed a professional contract and we went on to make 23 appearances on his debut season.
It could have been more had it not been for a face injury is suffered in the course of the season.
Amartey made 11 appearances for Djurgarden in the Swedish top-flight before it went on a break.
